Yingtan 鹰潭
Located on the Xin river in Jiangxi, China .Until recently, Yingtan was a small town, but has grown recently due to being a rail junction. The ground here is mostly made of red sandstone which is cut to make buildings . Judging from the forts and trenchs cut into the hills around town, there was some action here during the Japanese occupation and civil war period . Heard some reports of Japanese troops killing a group of people where the city park is now .This is where you can catch a bus to Longhu Shan. If you are looking for something to do between trains, there is a river park with a small zoo and a cafe with a nice river view. Close to the city park/zoo by the post office there are some coffee shops and good restaurants . If you walk past the city park you can walk through 'old town ' where you can see some of the few remaing older wooden buildings . There is a ferry there to the other side of the river .Bus to Longhu Shan are to the left as you walk out of the train station. Yingtan means ' eagle pond.' The new bus station is outside of town, there is a bus that goes there from the train station.
